Kogi Pastor slumps, dies in office

AREWA AGENDA – A resident pastor in charge of the Living Faith Church in Lokoja, Kogi state, Fred Attabo has reportedly slumped and died.

According to NAN, the 68-year-old Attabo slumped and died in his office on Friday after a morning prayer programme held at the church.

Confirming the incident, Edwin Okolo, the church’s associate pastor, said the death of his boss is “very shocking”.

Okolo, however, refused to speak further on the incident and promised to issue a statement later.

“Our senior pastor slumped in his office shortly after Friday’s Covenant Hour of Prayer this morning,” he said.

“When it happened, we took him to the Specialist Hospital, Lokoja, for medical attention.

“We accepted his death in good faith and have taken his body to the mortuary at Specialist Hospital, Lokoja.”

The development comes amid several reported cases of persons slumping and dying.

In October, an unidentified footballer slumped and died while playing at the Green Field football ground in Lekki area of Lagos state.

In July, Sunday Ogunjimi, a teacher in Ogun state, was said to be attending a meeting of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), following the strike by workers over alleged unpaid allowances, when he slumped and died at the state secretariat.

Meanwhile, in June, Isa Burji, zonal chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa central, reportedly slumped and died at a hotel in Abuja.

Also, Emmanuel Asufi, an assistant commissioner of police (ACP), in April, was said to have slumped at his duty post and later confirmed dead.
