Niger Governor Dissolves Boards, Commissions, Parastatals

AREWA AGENDA – The Governor of Niger State, Hon. Mohammed Umar Bago has ordered the termination of all political appointments made before May 29, 2023, as well as the dissolution of all statutory commissions, boards, and parastatals in the state.

Governor Bago gave the directives in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman and made available to newsmen on Monday.

According to the statement, the Governor ordered all appointments be terminated with immediate effect.

The SSG further outlined how the dissolution also affected all commissions, boards, and parastatals, whether they were tenured or not, and he asked all involved parties to follow the instructions right away.

The SSG instructed those impacted by the dissolution to turn over all government property, including official vehicles in their possession, to the most senior Director in their respective establishments while acknowledging their positive contributions to the development of the State and the operations of their offices.

The governor also wished impacted political appointees and members of the abolished commissions, boards, and parastatals well in their future efforts, according to the release.
