Kano Farmers Sets To Become Millionaires Through Kano Project

AREWA AGENDA – The Coordinator KSADP at Sasakawa Africa Association office Comrade Abdulrashid Hamisu Kofar Mata one of the partners of Kano state Agro-Pastoral Development Project (KSADP) has revealed that in its preparation towards this year’s wet-season activities, the project has already distributed inputs for the operation of demonstration plots across the 44 local government areas of the state
He disclosed during a mega green field days held at Larabar Gadon Sarki of warawa and at Tofai Town of Gabasawa local government areas of Kano state.

According to him the project has made provision for 226 demonstration plots for rice, 226 for maize, 146 for Sorghum and 97 for millet making a total of 696 demonstration plots across the 44 local government areas of Kano state.

He further explained that the project which is funded through a loan facility from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and a grant component from Live and Livelihood Funds (LLF) had established and operated 228 demonstration plots in 19 local government areas during the dry-season agricultural activities in the state.

In his address SAA Deputy Country Director Dr Abdulhamid Gambo stated that, the agriculture is currently facing a lot of agricultural challenges that needs a change in the manner and ways farmers operates adding that the field day is organized to practically expose farmers to good agricultural practices and advantages of collective marketing of products as well as to showcase the importance of using improved seed varieties among other improved agricultural practices to farmers for a better yield.
