AREWA AGENDA – The federal government is to commence the construction of a second runway at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport in Abuja in 2022.

This is contained in the annex of the 2022 budget signed into an appropriation act by president Muhammadu Buhari on December 31 in Abuja.

Though, the president expressed worries about the changes made to the budget draft by the national assembly which he said the executive will address by presenting a budget amendment bill to resolve the issue.

The annex tagged “Selected projects in the 2022 budget; investing for a resilient future: critical infrastructure and human capital”.

N14 billion is budgeted for the construction of a second runway at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja.

Another N600 million is budgeted for expansion and asphalt overlay of Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.

N500 million is voted for the construction of a new terminal building in Enugu while N100 million is voted for the construction of Abeokuta airstrip in Ogun State.
