Yobe IPAC Factions Resolve Differences

Two factions of the Inter-party Advisory Committee (IPAC), Yobe state Chapter, have resolved their differences and called on the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) to reschedule local government elections slated for November.
The state IPAC Secretary, Alhaji Abdullahi Bello, who heads his faction, made this known in a statement in Damaturu.
Our correspondent reports that the other faction, led by IPAC Chairman, Alhaji Bala Mohammed, had at a press conference on September 5, appealed to the SIEC to postpone the election to a later date.
Bello explained that “ Muhammed’s camp did not make adequate consultation to Exco members before conducting the first press briefing”.
The secretary, however, said after extensive consultation, both sides had agreed that the elections be rescheduled to give stakeholders ample time to make necessary preparations.
“By this, we wish to render our unreserved apology to all for our late decision.
“We took the decision to preserve the integrity of all political parties involved,” he added.
Bello commended Gov Mai Mala Buni of the state for what he tagged as “ all-inclusive policies” in the state.
“We hope and pray that your (Buni’s) government will accept the decision to shift the local government election to another appropriate date,” the secretary added.
