Gov. Mai Mala Buni Bans Conversion of Official Vehicles To Private Use

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has banned the conversion of government vehicles and facilities into private use.

Buni announced the ban at the inauguration of the newly appointed nine Permanent Secretaries on Tuesday in Damaturu.

According to him, “All government vehicles should be strictly used for government assignments.

“The Secretary to the State Government, the Head of Service and the Permanent Secretaries, are hereby directed to ensure compliance.” Buni ordered.

He also warned the permanent secretaries against releasing official files to unauthorized persons.

“ All communications and movement of files must follow the normal procedure and channels for proper documentation.
“On no account should government files be released to unauthorised persons. The Secretary to the State Government (SSG) to note and ensure compliance to the order.

He charged the state Head of Service (HoS) and the permanent secretaries to ensure that all the 2,600 newly employed civil servants were given schedule of responsibilities to justify resources expended on them.

“ This will give workers a sense of belonging and involvement and check cases of idleness and absenteeism to promote vibrancy and productivity in the civil service,” the governor said.
He charged the permanent secretaries to see their elevation as purely based on merit, competence and capacity.

“ You are, therefore, expected to add value from your wealth of experience to the civil service for government to achieve its set goals to deliver dividends of democracy to the people,” Buni said
