Safety of corps members in Kebbi paramount – CP
AREWA AGENDA – The Police Command in Kebbi has assured members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployed to the state for the mandatory national service of their safety.
A statement by the command’s spokesman, SP Nafi’u Abubakar, quotes the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Magaji-Kontogora, as giving the assurance at the NYSC Orientation camp in Dakingari in Suru Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday..
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the NYSC 2022 Batch “C” Steam 1 corps members deployed to the state are currently at the orientation camp.
“I want to assure the management that the state police command is committed to ensuring adequate security of corps members during and after their orientation programme and throughout their service year in the state.

“We are here at the camp to assess the security situation of the orientation camp in view of the fact that NYSC camp is a national structure and must be protected,” he said.
The CP, however, acknowledged that Kebbi had relatively been peaceful, “but we still have to collaborate and strategise with other security agencies to secure the camp and all corps members serving in the state.”
He solicited the cooperation of all security agencies and critical stakeholders in the state towards achieving a peaceful environment.
The CP called on corps members to be discipline and abide by rules and regulations governing the conduct of the scheme, saying no goal would be achieved without the virtue of discipline.
The commissioner also paid a similar visit to the Acting Deputy Rector, State Polytechnic, Dakingari. Malam Sa’idu Aliyu.
Responding separately, NYSC State Coordinator, Alhaji Mustapha Muhammed and the Acting Deputy Rector, Aliyu, expressed gratitude for the visit, describing it as the first of its kind in the history of the two institutions.
They added that the visit served as a morale booster to members of the camp community as well as the polytechnic. (NAN)
