Kano NSCDC arrests 11 suspects over alleged vandalism, phone snatching, others
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kano command has arrested 11 suspects for allegedly committing various crimes ranging from vandalism, theft, phone snatching, and other criminal acts.
The suspects, Jibril Shamsu, ‘M’, 21 years old, Saidu Musa, M, 18 years old, Saifullahi Musa, M, 18 years old, Tasiu Salisu, M, 16 years old, and Abdurrahman Dahiru, M, are in custody of the Corps and undergoing an investigation at the end of which they will be prosecuted.
The Kano command NSCDC Public Relations Officer (PRO), DSC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, stated this in a statement made available on Friday to the press in Kano
According to the statement,” Five of the suspects were arrested by operatives of the Anti-Vandalism Unit of the command.”

He added that they were arrested in connection with vandalising armoured cables worth hundreds of thousands of Naira and phone snatching in broad daylight along Kofar Mazugal Abattoir Road in the metropolis.
The statement further disclosed that “other suspects nabbed by civil defence officers at Gezawa and Garun Malam Divisions with an alleged vandalization of electricity and streetlight installations are also being thoroughly investigated with a view to taking legal action against them.”
DSC Abdullahi stated that “The Corps had arraigned two before a court with an alleged theft of 18 solar power panels belonging to the Kano State School of Management Studies.”
The Corps had also succeeded in confiscating 13 bags of a harmful herbal mixture popularly known as Akuskura, which the state government recently banned sales and usage of owing to its risk to public health and safety.
DSC Abdullahi then disclosed that an investigation was intensified to trace and arrest the owner of the products so he to face the full wrath of the law.
