KALAMED trains women in digital skills, entrepreneurship
AREWA AGENDA – In an effort to empower women in Nigeria with digital skills, a mentorship program has been launched by Kano Ladies Mentors and Mentees Dialogue (KALAMED) a group of female professionals in Kano.
The program aims to provide women with the opportunity to learn about digital technologies and how they can be leveraged to create economic opportunities.
The mentorship program is designed to help women develop digital skills such as digital marketing, e-commerce, and social media management. The program is open to women of all ages and backgrounds who are interested in learning about digital technologies and exploring their potential as an economic driver.

According to the Convener Hannatu Sulaiman Abba the mentorship initiative is a response to the growing need for digital skills in Nigeria, and the underrepresentation of women in the technology sector. By providing women with the necessary skills and knowledge, the goal is to help bridge the gender gap in technology and create more opportunities for women to succeed in the digital economy.
The program is set to run for several months, with mentors drawn from different experienced professionals in the technology sector. The mentors will work closely with the mentees, providing guidance and support as they navigate the world of digital technologies.
Speaking at the program one of the participants Fadila Muhammad expressed her hope that the initiative will help to inspire more women to pursue careers in technology and take advantage of the opportunities that digital technologies present adding that women in Kano are poised to take advantage of the growing opportunities in the digital economy and contribute to the country’s economic growth and development.
