Hasken Matasa: Youths Harp on Role of Parents Towards Peaceful Elections

AREWA AGENDA – For peaceful elections, advocates have called for constant admonition, recognition of self-worth and love for country as some of the values parents and guardians alike can instill in their wards from a tender age.

According to them, knowing your value as a person will refrain you from been used as a weapon of choas and mischief during the imminent general elections come February.

Mubarak Baba Ahmad, Youth Society for Prevention of Infectious Diseases and Social Vices (YOSPIS) Technical Assistance and Hajiya Aisha Halliru, ED, Halliru Memorial Youth Development and Empowerment Initiative (AYDI) spoke on the 66th episode of Hasken Matasa themed: “2023 General Elections; the role of parents and guardians towards peaceful elections.”

“Youths need to understand that seats of power are temporal and there is absolutely no need to generate unnecessary feud with friends and other innocent citizens because leadership is transient, helping them understand this is one of the role of parents and guardians in attaining a tranquil election,” Mubarak said.

According to Hajiya Aisha, history guides and help adjust the present and serve as a tool to plan for the future.

“Let parents tell our youths the history of Nigeria’s leadership from the military rule to the contemporary democracy, this will help them get the sense of what is required for our nation to develop and with this, we can start having peaceful elections even beyound this year.

“Fervent prayers for the youth, love and compassion so they don’t get it from the wrong place, keeping tab of the company our children keep are other ways to properly bring up youth to avoid electoral and other types of violence,” Hajiya Aisha stated.

Hajiya Aisha appreciated YOSPIS and Community Health and Research Initiative (CHR) for the efforts they put into airing Hasken Matasa every week as it is significantly changing the lives of its listeners.

Hasken Matasa, which literally translates into “Light of the Youths”, is a weekly programme on topical youth oriented issues organised by the Community Health and Research Initiative (CHR) and the Youth Society for Prevention of Infectious Diseases and Social Vices (YOSPIS), is sponsored by the Aminu Magashi Garba Foundation (AMG Foundation).
