Gov. Yusuf Kabir Seeks Police Supports in Crime Fighting

Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has called on the Nigeria Police Force to support the state government in its fight against drug abuse, phone snatching, armed robbery, thuggery and other social vices for continuous security of lives and property of the people of the state.

The governor made the appeal when he received the acting Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, who in company of management staff of the force, paid him a courtesy visit at Government House.

Contained in a statement from the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Malam Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor, appreciated the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies for operating under one roof towards securing the state.
He assured of the support and cooperation of the state government for them to perform exceptionally.

He added that to bring police closer to people, his administration had constructed the Tarauni Area Command headquarters and Divisional Police headquarters at Court Road.
He said two others were under construction at Tudun Wada and Zango Divisional Police headquarters.
He affirmed that the dou police stations would be completed in earnest.

In his submission, the acting Inspector General of Police, Mr. Egbetokun said he was in the state for the passing out parade of the participants of Course 5 Regular Cadet ASPs of the Police Academy Wudil and visited the governor to doff hat to the state government for its concern to the men and officers of the force.

He said that he was assiduously working with his management team to provide an articulated decument for effective service delivery, especially in the areas of modern community policing that is technology driven, intelligence gathering and other facets so as to take the force to the next level.

Mr. Egbetokun informed the governor that he was initiating the establishment of a Special Intervention Squad made up of well trained and equipped personnel to quickly respond to any emergency need, saying that the state was envisaged to be the pilot one of the project.
