Gombe PDP fixes September 29 for fresh governorship primary, clears Pantami, two others
The Peoples Democratic Party in Gombe State has cleared Professor Isa Ali Pantami, Khamisu Ahmed Mailantarki and Usman Aliyu Garry to contest its fresh governorship primary election.
The party’s State Publicity Secretary, Abdulkadir Ahmed Dukku, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, saying the three aspirants had been cleared for the rescheduled primary.
A Federal High Court sitting in Gombe had on Thursday, September 24, nullified the earlier governorship primary conducted by the party and ordered a fresh election within one month.
Following the judgment, the PDP fixed Tuesday, September 29, 2026, for the repeat primary.

“Following the nullification, the PDP wishes to inform all its card-carrying members that there will be a gubernatorial repeat primary election on Tuesday, 29th September, 2026. All eligible voters are expected to assemble at their respective ward areas to vote an aspirant of their choice,” Dukku said.
The party said it had received the court judgment in good faith and respected the decision of the court.
It also welcomed the aspect of the judgment that validated Pantami’s membership and entry into the PDP, as well as his participation in the May 2026 governorship primary.
The party urged its members, supporters and stakeholders to remain calm and united while its leadership and the contestants studied the legal implications and directives contained in the judgment.
Dukku further said the Supreme Court verdict delivered on Thursday evening by Justice Adamu Jauro did not affect Pantami’s eligibility to contest the rescheduled primary.
He urged party members to avoid speculation and inflammatory statements that could create tension, assuring them that the party would take all necessary steps within the law to protect its interests and uphold its democratic processes.
