Ahead of S’Court Verdict, Kano PWDs Sue For Peace, Demand Justice
Ahead of the Kano state Supreme Court governorship verdict, a group of people living with disabilities in Abuja have called on the President Bola Tinubu-led federal government to ensure that the peace of the state is not jeopardized.
They charged the president to ensure that there justice and fairness, irrespective of his interest in the case.
Along with other concerned citizens, the PWDs on Thursday staged peaceful protest at Karonmajigi community in Abuja to draw global attention to the need for restoration of peace in the state.
Their protest is a reaction to the Appeal Court ruling that affirmed the earlier verdict of the tribunal, sacking the Kano state governor, Kabir Yusuf Abba of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and declaring Nasiru Gawuna of the All Progressive Congress (APC), as the rightful winner of the governorship election conducted in March earlier this year

They appealed to President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to save democracy and also save Kano State from a conflagration.
“We voted for Abba Kabir Yusuf, not Gawuna,” they stated, adding that, in spite of their physical challenges, they still travelled back home to vote for Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf.
They said Governor Yusuf is so caring and passionate about Kano, especially during the distribution of items donated as palliatives.
They also noted that he specially set aside items for people living with disabilities, adding that less than seven months in office, he has made tremendous improvements and progress in governance.
They requested the Supreme Court to ensure that justice is dispensed without fear or favour in order to sustain the people’s confidence in the judiciary.
They highlighted the impact Abba Yusuf’s administration has made in their lives since his assumption of office.
With a strong voice, they called on President Bola Tinubu not to disappoint the people of Kano.
“We still believe in the judiciary; we are optimistic they will do justice to the case”, one the PWDs submitted.
