CITAD Sensitizes People With Hearing Disability On Social Media Usage.

AREWA AGENDA – The Center for information and Technology Development CITAD has pledged its unalloyed in training people with Disabilities in Digital skills and Information for inclusiveness in society.

The pledge was made by the CITAD Executive Director, Engr Y.Z Ya’u who was ably represented by the Senior program officer, Mal Isah Garba said this, During a one-day workshop Training on Digital skills and use of social media for people suffering from hearing impairment in Kano State.

Mal. Isa noted that people with Disabilities stand at 20% of the total population of the country, adding that no saner country would want to shun such a reasonable percentage of her population.

Ya’u assured that CITAD has been around for a long in the area of development strategies, by giving special consideration to People With Disabilities (PWDs) in the society for inclusive governance.

Dr Yau exuded the confidence that he observes that the people suffering from hearing-impairment clusters possess skills and ideas, but with a limited avenue to showcase their dexterities owing to the gaps in communication, which he described as one of the major challenges.

On his part, the co-ordinator of the Project, Sagir Adamu noted that CITAD is an amplifier and the voice of people with disabilities when it comes to societal building, stressing that the voices of people with Disabilities are heard to ensure their demands are achieved.

He stated further that the hearing impaired clusters need to understand the use of social media for Government Accountability, build more capacity training for Advocacy Enlightening more opportunities and create jobs in their midst and the society as well.
