Borno Govt. adjusts 2022/2023 school academic calendar
AREWA AGENDA – The Borno State government on Thursday adjusted the school academic calendar for the academic year of 2022/2023.
The announcement came through a circular from the state ministry of education, dated 9th March, 2023 with reference number CDN/G.503/T/VOL II/5 signed by the Director Schools Management, Mustapha Umara on behalf of the Commissioner of education.
The circular titled “Adjustments to the 2022/2023 School Academic Calendar,” said schools will now open on Friday 10th March as against the initial date.
It said the adjustnents were necessitated by the recent postponement of the governorship and state legislative elections by the electoral commission.

“In view of the current postponement of the governorship and stats assemblies from 11th March to 18th March, 2023 by the independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), schools will continue as from Friday 10th of March 2023,” the government announced.
It explained schools will again close on Friday 17th March for the governorship and House of Assembly poll now rescheduled for Saturday 18th March.
“Schools will reopen on Tuesday 21st March to 5th April, 2023,” it disclosed.
It said the adjustments do not affect all external examinations already fixed by concerned bodies.
Late Wednesday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced a postponement of the governorship and state assembly poll from Saturday 11th March to 18th March, 2023.
The electoral commission said the “difficult” decision was necessitated by the need for adequate preparations following the March 3 permission of the Presidential Election Tribuna granted to INEC to reconfigure its Bimodal Voter Accreditation System or BVAS.
