Bauchi Police Arrest 24-Year-Old Man Over Alleged Abduction, Rape Of 16-Year-Old Girl
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old man, identified as Jafar Mohammed, over the alleged abduction and rape of a 16-year-old girl in Bauchi State.
The suspect, a resident of Zango Ward, Bauchi, was arrested in October 2026 at the Hayin Rigasa axis of Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State following an intelligence-led operation by detectives attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
The arrest was disclosed in a press release issued on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, ANIPR, FFIS.
According to the police, the investigation began after a 35-year-old woman from Makwalla Ward, Bauchi, submitted a written petition reporting that her 16-year-old younger sister had gone missing.
The command said it received the petition on September 3, 2026, at about 1:00 p.m., following the teenager’s disappearance on August 5, 2026, at approximately 1:00 p.m.
The complainant reportedly told the police that efforts to locate her younger sister had proved unsuccessful.

Following the report, detectives at the SCID launched a discreet investigation and tracked the missing girl’s mobile telephone number, identified as 08063*****4 in the police statement.
The police said the investigation led them to discover that the telephone number was in the possession of the suspect in Abuja.
The statement further disclosed that the girl returned home on August 8, 2026, three days after she was reported missing, and allegedly accused Mohammed of deceiving her into going with him under the pretext of marrying her before having sexual intercourse with her without her consent.
The police subsequently arrested the suspect in Kaduna State in October as part of efforts to investigate the allegations.
“The suspect has confessed to the allegations levelled against him during interrogation,” the statement said.
The command added that the case remained under discreet investigation at the Gender Laboratory of the SCID in Bauchi.
Reacting to the arrest, the Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling sexual and gender-based violence, particularly offences involving minors.
The commissioner assured residents that the command maintained zero tolerance for gender-based violence and all forms of abuse against children.
He also pledged that justice would be served and urged parents and guardians to closely monitor their children and wards.
The police said the investigation was ongoing.
