Bandits ‘control’ 58 LGs in 5 Northern states, Imo State in South-East

AREWA AGENDA – Not fewer that Fifty-eight local government areas in six states of the federation are under the siege of rampaging terrorists, kidnappers, bandits and gunmen.

Some of these local government areas suffer constant brutal attacks by the terrorists, with many of their areas left ungoverned due to the absence of any symbol of authority.

In some states, the terrorists have imposed their administration by collecting taxes, arbitrating between locals and providing protection to the local against rival gangs, among others.

In states like Katsina, Sokoto and Zamfara, the local councils along Nigerian border rely on security forces from neigboring Niger Republic for protection against the murderous bandits.

The affected LGs include 18 in Katsina, Sokoto (11) Zamfara (9), Kaduna (8), Niger (7), and Imo (5).

Findings by 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE through analysis of media reports indicate that the affected local government areas in Katsina are Batsari, Safana, Jibia, Danmusa, Sabuwa, Kankara, Dandume, Faskari, Duntsin Ma, Kurfi,

Batagarawa, Rimi, Danja, Kafur, Matazu, Kankia, Malumfashi and Katsina.

The local councils under constant terrorists attacks in Kaduna State include Chikun, Kajuru, Kachia, Zangon Kataf, Kauru, Lere, Birnin Gwari and Giwa.

In Zamfara state, Maru, Tsafe, Bakura, Anka, Maradun, Shinkafi, Bukkuyum and Gusau local councils have since become threatened of wars by bandits.

Niger State has seven LGs under the siege by the terrorists, kidnappers and gunmen. They are Rafi, Munya, Shiroro, Magana, Mashegu, Mariga and Wushishi.

In Sokoto State, Illela, Rabah, Sabon Birni, Isa, Wurno, Gada, Goronyo, Tangaza, Gudu, Dange Shuni and Kebbe.

In the Southeast, Abia and Imo States are constantly under the siege of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) which militant wing the Eastern Security Network has maintained brutal attacks on Orlu, Oru West, Oru East and Njaba all in Imo alone.
