AREWA AGENDA – Kano State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Deputy Governorship candidate in the 2023 general elections, Mall. Yusuf Bello Dambatta, said that the success of their main opposition party in the recently-concluded Osun gubernatorial election is an expression of Nigerians frustration with the All Progressives Congress, APC-led federal government.

PDP’s candidate, Sen. Ademola Adeleke, was penultimate Saturday declared winner of the Osun guber poll after defeating Mr. Gboyega Isiaka Oyetola, incumbent Governor of the State and flagbearer of the APC, in the election.

In an exclusive interview with Politics Digest, Dambatta, expressed ‘sadness’ that Nigeria is now in a state of socio-economic quagmire under the ruling party.

“You see, we saw it coming. Nigerians are tired and frustrated. You see what is happening in Nigeria today is not about political parties but the current situation the APC government has put us.

“Look at the killings, the maiming, the mayhems, the decay in education and even our own foreign policies, look at inflation trying to shoot to about 20%,, then look at our economy during PDP’s era, where our Gross Domestic Product was above 6%, almost about 7.6%, now it is below 1%,” he said.

The Deputy Governorship candidate, described the presidential stand-bearer of PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, as a “unifier” whose political clouts tower above his main challenger in the 2023 elections, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, and other presidential candidates.

“Atiku has the political experience, clout, exposure and structure.

“He supported President Olusegun Obasanjo to succeed through programs’ initiations and execution.

“So why would Nigerians look away from a leader of these qualities? Nigerians should please ensure they vote Atiku massively in 2023 for a better Nigeria,” he noted.

On the internal crisis rocking Kano PDP, Dambatta, assured that aggrieved members of their party would mend fences before the 2023 elections.
