“Support Local Manufacturing of Vaccines,” National COVID-19 Summit Urges FG
The recently concluded National COVID-19 Summit has urged the Federal Government of Nigeria to support local manufacturing of vaccine in order to contribute it’s quota towards ending the Global Pandemic.
The Summit themed: pushing through the last Mile to end the Pandemic and Build Back Better noted that this will build local capacity to respond to the pandemic and ramp up vaccine uptake in the country.
This was issued in a communique on Wednesday by the committee which states that the overarching goal of the summit is to review the COVID-19 response policy and program implementation from 2020 to 2022 and make actionable recommendation for improved performance , coordination, ownership and sustainability at both national and sub Nationals level.
The communique recognized the need for strengthening of the accountability frame works on COVID-19 response and Health security in Nigeria, countious and substanble co-ordinator of the multi sectors at National and sub National.

Explore and Adopt Global strategic for Pandemic preparedness,collaboration with partners between federal Government and CSOs.
Furthermore, the National COVID-19 summit was graced by Government officials senate Dr Ahmad lawan, Dr Anthony fauci, Dr John Nkengasong , Prof.oyewale Tomori and others.
The summit Record over 700 participants attending in-person and virtually, drawn from all stakeholders involved in the national response and the international community, CSOs and media.
The communique was sign by Dr. Aminu Magashi Coordinator Africa Health Budget for Coalition of CSOs, Pharm Frank Mounemeh, Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Group of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria for the Private Sector,Dr. Betta Edu HCH Cross River Statefor Forum of Commissioners of Health in Nigeria, Dr. Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe Chairman Senate Committee on Health for the National Assembly, Mr. Boss Mustapha secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman, Presidential Steering Committee I PSC on COVID-19.
