Subsidy Removal: Yobe Government Distributes Food Stuffs To Vulnerable Residents

Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) on Wednesday distributed grains to 6,800 vulnerable persons as palliative to cushion subsidy removal.
Speaking at the occasion in in Potiskum, Dr Mohammed Goje, the SEMA Executive Secretary, said the gesture would increase food security among people.

“ Once there is circulation of food either from the federal or state government, individual or philosophists, the hardship of the people will be reduced.

“Today we are in Potiskum LGA to respond to the plight of vulnerable with palliatives, as directed by Governor Mai Mala Buni.

“We are targeting over 6,800 beneficiaries. These beneficiaries cut across Persons Living with Disability, vulnerable households, primary and secondary school teachers.

“Civil servants, students, the elderly, widows, orphans, among others, across 10 words of the local government,” he said.

Goje noted that the distribution began since the pronouncement of subsidy removal by the Federal Government.
“It is an ongoing state-driven palliative. It will continue.

“We will still reach out to more communities until we reach the last person that supposed to have the palliative,” he added.

He also explained that each household was given 20 kg of either, sorghum, guinea corn or rice.

He therefore advised the beneficiaries to ensure that members of their households benefit from the grains.

Malam Bakura Isah, one of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to Yobe government for the support, saying it couldn’t have come at a better time.
