Reps Investigate Auno Attacks, Summon Buratai

AREWA AGENDA- The House of Representatives has launched an investigation into the attack on motorists and villagers in Auno on February 9.

The House committee on Army, chaired by Abdulrazak Namdaz (APC, Adamawa) summoned the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai, to explain the circumstances that led to the attack.

Namdaz lamented the loss of lives and the destruction recorded during the Auno attack.

He said his committee visited Auno, met the people affected, assisted them and assessed the damaged caused.

He said the committee also wanted the army to furnish it with the usefulness or otherwise of the “Super Camps” established as a strategy to fight insurgency which had come under severe criticism.

Responding, Buratai, represented by the Chief of Training and Operations, Nigerian Army Headquarters, Major General E.O Udom, assured the information demanded would be provided.
