Banditry: Group Urges Katsina Gov. to Lift Ban on Vigilante

AREWA AGENDA- A Katsina-based non-governmental organization, Awareness for Good Leadership, Peace and Development (AGLPD) has urged the Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari to reintroduce vigilante as a measure to curb insecurity in the state.

The organization made the appeal during a peaceful demonstration at the Katsina State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja.

The president of the organisation, Abdullahi Aliyu Katsina, said that they were demonstrating against the incessant killings in the state and urged the government to consider lifting the ban on vigilante participation in the security operation in the state.

“Recent attacks on various communities in Katsina State exposed how vulnerable these people are, as a result of banning of activities of vigilantes nine months ago without introducing better measures” he said.

In a letter the group urged the government to listen to the yearnings and plight of the people.

Receiving the letter, a staff at the Governor’s Lodge, Dahiru Shua’ib promised to submit the letter to the state liaison officer for onward submission to the governor.
