Pantami lauds ABU students for outstanding performance at Huawei ICT Global Competition
AREWA AGENDA- The Honourable Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Dr. Isah Ali Ibrahim Pantami, has congratulated the Vice-Chancellor, staff, and students of Ahmadu Bello University In the feat achieved by the six students of the institution who participated in the recently concluded 2019 -2020 Huawei ICT Global Competition.
Of the six students that participated in the global competition, three earned first prize in Network Track and another three won the grand prize in Cloud/Artificial Intelligence Track.
The Minister, who spoke at the 2019-2020 Huawei Nigeria ICT Competition Award and 2021-2022 Launch Ceremony held in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria today, said that the feat was yet another testimony of ABU capacity as a pace-setter nationally and globally.

“This exemplary achievement is no doubt a result of the joint efforts of all the structures, organs, and of the support from the internal stakeholders of this University community in one way or the other, and I wish to congratulate the University as a whole, today,” he said.
Dr. Pantami equally commended the management and staff of Huawei International Company for offering the platform which had seen Nigerian youths display extraordinary skills and resourcefulness in a dynamic sector as that of the ICT.
Represented by the Managing Director, Galaxy Backbone, Prof. M.B. Abubakar, the Minister urged Ahmadu Bello University to consider the feat achieved by the students as a baseline for future achievements that would “keep this great University soaring at enviable heights”.
The Minister also explained that by virtue of the feat achieved by the students, the University was showing leadership and hope in the vision of a digitalized Nigeria.
Goodwill messages from National Universities Commission (NUC), Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC), Digital Bridge Institute, and NITDA were delivered at the award ceremony.
