Operation FANSAN YAMMA Troops Foil Bandit Attack, Rescue Five Kidnap Victims in Katsina
Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, have foiled a bandit attack and rescued five kidnapped victims during separate operations in Katsina State.
In the first operation, the joint security team responded to a distress call from residents about terrorist activity along the Dandume–Sheme Road.
According to a statement on Friday, the troops swiftly mobilised to the area and engaged the attackers with superior firepower, forcing them to flee into the surrounding bushes with gunshot wounds.
The troops subsequently conducted a search and clearance operation along the attackers’ escape route, leading to the rescue of three abducted persons identified as Mutairu Adamu, 58; Yusufa Habibu, 25; and Aminu Musa, 22.

The security forces also recovered two vehicles allegedly abandoned by the criminals. The vehicles have registration numbers FTA 702 XB and EPE 706 XB.
In a related operation in Sabuwa Local Government Area, troops conducting routine counter-terrorism and anti-banditry operations encountered an armed terrorist group.
The troops engaged the terrorists with superior firepower and tactical advantage, forcing them to flee in disarray into the surrounding terrain.
A subsequent search and clearance operation along the terrorists’ escape route resulted in the rescue of two male victims who had earlier been abducted along the Dandume–Damari axis.
The troops also recovered two motorcycles allegedly used by the terrorists in their operations.
The five rescued victims are currently receiving necessary medical care and assessment before being reunited with their families.
The military said troops remained deployed across the affected areas and had maintained a heightened state of vigilance to protect communities and commuters while preventing further criminal activities along critical transit corridors.
