OIC Meeting: Nigeria Makes Case for Increased Hajj Quota

AREWA AGENDA – Nigeria has appealed to the Saudi Arabia authorities to increase her pilgrims quota to take care of additional demands by Nigerians who wish to worship in the Holy Land.
Nigeria’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Alhaji Yahaya Lawal, made the appeal on Thursday, at the meeting of Organisation Of Islamic Countries (OIC) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

He equally called on the authorities to include Nigeria in the Makkah Router Initiative, which has seven countries as its beneficiaries at the moment.
He argued that Nigeria is the fourth or fifth largest contributor of worshippers to both Umrah and Hajj every year and deserves a higher stake in terms of recognition and allocation.
The envoy also used the opportunity of the conference to advise Nigerian pilgrims to be good ambassadors of their country and religion by being law abiding during their stay in the Holy Land.
