Niger’s new military government has indicated its intention to try the ousted president, Mohammed Bazoum for alleged treason.
The decision was made known by the spokesman for the junta on national radio.
According to him, both the ousted Bazoum and his accomplices would
have to stand trial.
Recall that Bazoum was removed from office by a military junta in a coup on July 26.

On Sunday, the junta also indicated its readiness to negotiate with the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS.
ECOWAS had demanded that the new rulers released the detained president a few days after the coup.
After the military seized power, it suspended the constitution and appointed their own transitional government.
President Bazoum had been held by the putschists ever since.
