Kogi CJ Urge Magistrates to Treat Cases Based on Merit

AREWA AGENDA – The Chief Judge of Kogi State, Justice Josiah Majebi has urged Magistrates of the state to treat cases based on their merits.

Justice Majebi made the remark at the Okene Correctional Service during a prison visit.

He said judges should not be emotional in any circumstances, saying the visit to prisons will be regular to ensure that justice was done.

The Chief Judge warned against ego in the administration of justice by judges and magistrates, noting that justice should be devoid of pride or status.

While reviewing cases also, Justice Majebi ordered that an inmate with a mental problem be investigated while appropriate action should be taken.

Earlier, the officer in charge of the custodian centre, Ogadu Audu appreciated the Chief Judge for being responsive.

Ogadu, however, appealed for operational vehicles and other facilities and called for synergy among the stakeholders for quick administration of justice.
