WHO Hails Kano Yusuf’s Tackling of Health Workforce Shortage
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has commended Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, for efforts to strengthen the state’s healthcare system and address shortages of health workers.
The WHO Representative in Kano, Dr Sunusi Abubakar Mayana, gave the commendation alongside the UNICEF Representative in the state, Dr Muhammadu Damish, during the official launch and presentation of appointment letters to 2,037 newly recruited clinical and non-clinical health personnel at the Kano Government House.
Mayana said development partners were not in competition with government but were committed to supporting and mobilising resources for the implementation of government programmes and policies.

The Chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association in Kano also praised Yusuf for upgrading primary healthcare facilities across the state and improving major secondary healthcare institutions.
