CITAD Conducts Free IT Training Program For NCoS
AREWA AGENDA – In a commendable effort to bridge the existing digital divide, the Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has conducted a free scholarship training program on Information Technology (IT) for personnel of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) at the Jama’are Command in Bauchi state.
Representing the Executive Director of CITAD, Engr. Y.Z Ya’u, the Centre’s National Coordinator for the School of Community Networks, Malam Haruna Adamu Hadejia, emphasized that the training aimed to equip the participants with essential digital skills, thus contributing to the realization of a developed society.
Highlighting the extensive reach of CITAD’s initiatives, Mr. Hadejia mentioned that the organization had previously organized similar programs across various locations nationwide. In 2022 alone, over 400 beneficiaries received computer training through CITAD’s efforts.

During the training, Mr. Abdurrahman Babatunde from CITAD facilitated a session on “Understanding and Utilizing Artificial Intelligence in Security.” The topic served to remind participants about the importance of enhancing their knowledge of alternative technological approaches in addressing security challenges.
Expressing his gratitude for the digital intervention, Superintendent of Prison (SP) Shuaibu Hussaini, the second-in-command of the center, noted that CITAD was the first organization to provide such a valuable training opportunity to the correctional center.
He further emphasized that in today’s digital world, the IT certificate obtained through the program would undoubtedly enhance the recipients’ career prospects.
One of the beneficiaries, ASP Sabo Sabo, expressed appreciation for the training and urged CITAD to extend their generosity by providing the same program to the remaining staff members of the correctional center.
The training concluded with the distribution of Certificates in Information Technology (CIT) to 20 staff members of the correctional center, highlighting their successful completion of the program.
The event also garnered significant attention and participation from members of the Jama’are Community Network, CITAD staff, and the staff of Jama’are local government, underscoring the importance and impact of the training.
