‘Bad Governance is Responsible for the Worsening Security Challenges’ Says Jega

AREWA AGENDA – Professor Attahiru Jega, former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman has reiterated that escalating national insecurity is a result of bad government in the Muhammadu Buhari years.

“Bad governance is responsible for the worsening security challenges facing Nigeria,” Jega insisted when he spoke in Minna at the Pre-Inaugural Lecture organised in honour of Niger Governor-elect Umaru Mohammed.

He cited poor management of complex diversity and poor governance complicated by heightened mobilisation of ethno-religious identities during political and electoral contests.

He urged governments at all levels to effectively collaborate and tackle deaths and abductions caused by insecurity challenges, saying the numbers have risen significantly in recent times.

New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso warned Mohammed to be wary of bad eggs around him and ensure justice in all his dealings.

Kwankwaso, who chaired the event, said incompetence and lack of knowledge of governance are responsible for the failure of some Governors, according to Daily Post.
