Yahaya Bello not Hiding from EFCC, not Interested in APC Chairmanship – Source

The immediate-past Governor of Kogi state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has been said not to be on the run from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
A source close to the former governor who sought anonymity also said he is not interested in seeking the highest office in the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The source disclosed further that the former governor has been in his Abuja home since he left office earlier this year, contrary to what he described as the mischievous widespread rumour that he has been evading the anti-graft agency’s arrest.
Since leaving office on January 27 this year, Yahaya Bello has been appearing in public on a reasonably regular basis. He was seen paying a condolence visit to his former commissioner for mineral resources, Bashir Gegu, who lost his father in Gegu community of Kogi State, last month.

He also attended the Eid-el-Fitr prayer, in the company of his successor, Ahmed Usman Ododo.
Since leaving office, he has visited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Villa on three different occasions.
Few days ago, the former governor also paid Sallah homage to the president in his Bourdilon home in Ikoyi, Lagos.
“Only a few days ago, he (Yahaya Bello) was in Lagos to pay Sallah homage to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Obviously, that does not portray a man running away from the law.
“Until last week’s Sallah celebration, when Alh Yahaya Bello went to his home town of Okene to spend the Eid-el-fitr holiday, where he, in company of the current governor prayed, Yahaya Bello is not on the run and has remained in Abuja”, the insider said.
The source added that throughout the Ramadan period, the former Kogi helmsman prayed with friends, family and some of his appointees in his Abuja home.
He argued that the position of national chairman of the ruling party is more suitable for elders of the party because of their vast political experience, saying the former governor is relatively too young for such position.
