World NGO Day: AAG Foundation, KANET Engages Youths on SDGs Volunteerism
AREWA AGENDA – Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo Foundation in Collaboration with Kano Network of NGO’s organized a one day orientation excercise for Youths and Students on Volunteerism and Sunstainable Development Goals (SDGs) at American Space, Murtala Muhammad Library, Kano today.
The orientation was graced by the presence of Senior Special Assistant on NGO to the Governor of Kano State, International Microblogging campaigner, Students, Youth activists and advocates from various Non Governmental Organizations in the state.
While presenting a paper Dr. Musa Abdullahi Sufi explained the Volunteerism importance in relation to Sustainable Development Goals advocacy which is expected to be attain globally in the year 2030.
He encouraged the participants to be the developmental ambassadors and partner with the committed NGO’s in making the changes they wish to see in their own way. He also advised the participants who wishes to volunteer think bigger and act locally.
He said “if you want to change a society, you should think bigger as if you are the United Nations’s Secretary or your country’s President in respect of solutions to the problems and act with SMART to actualise your goals locally”

He affirmed that his organisation came to Nigeria in respect of promoting the socio-cultural as well as economic aspects through positive narration of African indigenous languages by Africans.
He confirmed that through Volunteerism by some notable youths of the country, Koo application is making a great impact in the attaining at global needs to provide free information and advocacy on Sustainable Development Goals.
Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on NGO, Hon. Gezawa appreciated the effort of Dr. Musa Abdullahi Sufi for been a resource person to facilitate the gathering and called the participants to use with the strategic plans they learned during the orientation exercise in volunteering and promoting the state in the aspect of human development.
He cited an example on how to volunteer and help the humanity which only God can reward you for your services. He urged the Youths who have the interest to volunteer at any government primary or junior secondary schools to liaise with School Base Management Committee (SBMCs) in their respective communities for the promotion of qualitative education across the state.
February 27 has been noticed as World NGO Day in a number of international locations the world over. Non-Governmental Organizations or NGOs work within the upliftment of society. It’s a global day to recognise, have a good time and honour non-government and non-profit organisations and likewise those that contribute their time and efforts in making society a greater place to stay in.
