We Will Tackle Water Scarcity – Kano Govt Vows
Kano State Government has expressed its determination to tackle the current water scarcity in the state, adding that the feat can be achieved with the help of inherent human and material resources at the state’s disposal.
The Chairman Special Taskforce Committee on Water Supply, Engineer Bello Muhammad Kiru state this at the second leg of his tour to Challawa Water Works Complex 1,2&3 to asses the level of dilapidation and neglect the complex suffered in the hands of the previous administration in the state.
Engr Kiru who was accompanied by the Managing Director of Kano State Water Board, Engr Garba Ahmad Bichi and other Members of the taskforce said the Committee has identified some of the minor and urgent requirements that needed to be tackled.

These include leakages and repairs of intake filters among others.
He said currently water engineers are working assiduously to restore normal supply of water to the people.
The taskforce chairman however expressed dismay on the sorry state of the water laboratory which supposed to test the eligibility of water before releasing it to consumers while only two of the six generating is serviceable.
Kiru therefore enjoined staff to complement effort of government in ensuring steady supply of water to the people.
Also speaking, the Managing Director of the water Board, Engineer Garba Ahmad Bichi said when he assumed Office only two Regional Water Schemes out of 28 were functioning.
The Managing Director however said due to the political will of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf administration 26 regional water schemes have put back to use.
He therefore enjoined people to continue to rally round the NNPP administration for more dividends of democracy in the State.
