A Visit to PRNigeria Centre Abuja- A Student’s Experience

I was hosted by Mallam Yushau Shuaib at his PRNigeria Centre Abuja. Mallam Shuaib is the Chief Executive Officer of Image Merchants Promotion Limited (Publishers of PRNigeria, Economic Confidential and TechDigest) and one of the top Public Relations experts in Nigeria and also recognized globally.
After getting his number from a dear friend, I reached out to him on WhatsApp and I was astonished when he gave me an appointment in a short time. Arriving at his office, I couldn’t fathom how someone of that pedigree could exhibit such a high level of humility
We talked about a lot of things and even commended his latest write-up where he defended the dignity of Queen Nana Maryam, Wife of the late Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero. And he practically walked me through the process of how he researched, fact checked and came out with that brilliant article.
He walked me a bit through his library, showing me his past publications some of which were out of print. He talked to me about some of his friends and mentees, like Jaafar Jaafar of the Gandollar fame and Dahiru Lawal.

Before I left, he gave me a copy of Dahiru Mohammed Lawal’s “101 Fake News on EndSARS” and one of his publications, “PANTAMI: Trials and Triumphs of a Digital Economy Maestro”. The latter which I’m already halfway through chronicles the contributions of Professor Isa Ali Pantami to Nigeria’s Telecommunication sector as a minister. Going through this has made me realize more the need to always hear everyone’s side of the story.
I am not surprised at the level of scholarship exhibited because an apple does not fall far from the tree. Mallam Yushau Shuaib comes from a long line of scholars. His uncle, Prof Abdul Bāqi Shuaib Agaks is a First Class graduate and currently a Professor of Arabic in Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto.
His late father, Dr Abdulhameed Shuaib Agaka was a respected academic, Islamic scholar and also the former Chief Imam of Agaka, a community with close proximity to the Emir’s Palace and the Central Mosque in Ilorin Emirate of Kwara State.
