The Son of Birnin Gwari Appointed Head of ICT For The United Nations (UN)
AREWA AGENDA – Our esteemed brother, Malam Hamidu Isah has been appointed as Head of ICT Infrastructure and Helpdesk for the UNICEF Global Supply Division in Denmark.
Malam Abdulhamid Isah will be based in Copenhagen from where he will serve the world.
Malam Abdulhamid Isah obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Abubakar Tarawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi and his Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
Before his appointment into this exalted position, Abdulhamid has attended several managerial and ICT-based professional trainings in Nigeria, UK, Sweden, Ghana, Kenya, Cote de’voir, Senegal, etc.
Abdulhamid served on a special mission as unit head of ICT for the UNICEF country office in Niamey, Niger Republic in 2007.
Later same year, he returned to Nigeria and got promoted to the position of Senior ICT Associate and transferred to UNICEF Country office in Abuja.

In this capacity, Abdulhamid led a team that put in place fully functional ICT infrastructure and services in the UN House Abuja and newly established UNICEF offices in Maiduguri, Katsina, Sokoto, Akure, and Port Harcourt. Notable also is his led role in the total reestablishment and stabilization of complete UNICEF ICT functions in the aftermath of the unfortunate UN House bombing in 2011.
In 2014, Abdulhamid was sent on mission to head the ICT unit in UNICEF Cote d’Ivoir Country Office, Abidjan to help stabilize the office’s ICT services after the civil war.
In 2017, Abdulhamid got promoted and appointed as ICT Specialist in UNICEF South Sudan, based in Wau to manage ICT functions in the Western Bahr-El-Ghazel region, including the contested Abyei Territory.
He is inarguably one of the biggest philanthropic and patriotic people of Birnin Gwari.
His heart and thoughts and conscience as well as passion are always with Birnin Gwari.
This is no doubt a historic and well deserved appointment that a son of Birnin Gwari has ever gotten.
It is a great fiat to Kaduna State, Nigeria and the entire African Continent.
Abdulhamid is happily married with children.
He is one of the BoT members of BEPU.
