“I shed tears over Haneefa’s Murder,” Says Prof Gwarzo as MAAUN Names street after slain schoolgirl
AREWA AGENDA – The President and founder of Maryam Abacha American University Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo has expressed his grievances over the gruesome killing of a five years old school girl Haneefa Abubukar AbdulSalam by her teacher last month in Kano State.
Gwarzo stated this while receiving the University Dean of International Economic Relations and Travel Business, Director of Ukrainian- African Academic Center Mrs Inna Kolomyichuk on a working visit at the premises of MAAUN University in Kano Yesterday.
Speaking during the ceremony, Prof Gwarzo said, “I was in France when I received the sad news of her murder. Our youth in the society need to be at the frontline of education not criminal activities as such. This has always been my call at both national and international gatherings whenever I make presentations.
“Education has no boundaries, this little girl was on her way to school before the incident happened, we must seek justice for her and work towards the betterment of our society by Eradicating illiteracy in our midst.

In his remark, late Haneefa’s father, Alhaji Abubakar Abdulsalam said honouring his daughter in the school has gave him more courage and fortitude to bear the loss especially as most of the society has sympathized with his family.
“On behalf of my family, Kano and Nigerians at large, we really appreciate Prof. Adamu Abubakar for this kind gesture of immortalizing an innocent child.” Haneefa’s father stated.
The occasion of naming the street was graced by FTAISA skills and entrepreneurship development center Nigeria ably represented by Dr. Cliff Ogbede, philanthropists, group members and Journalists.
