TCI Decorates Kano First Lady as Champion of Child Birth Spacing
AREWA AGENDA – The Challenge Initiative has decorated the First Lady of Kano State Prof. Hafsat Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as the champion of child birth spacing and reduction of maternal mortality in Kano State and Nigeria at large.
The decoration was done in a Kano State Government House at Coronation Hall on Tuesday by the State Coordinator of The Challenge Initiative (TCI) Dr. Musa Abdullahi Sufi during a commemoration of Safe Motherhood Day and official launching of Reproductive Maternal Newborn Child Health+Nutrition (RMNCH+N) strategy documents.
While decorating her Sufi commended the effort of Her Excellency Prof. Hafsat Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for the vital role she is playing in maintaining the reduction of maternal mortality and her commitments towards the campaign of child birth spacing in the State
Sufi said The Challenge Initiative feels that Prof Hafsat deserved this global recognition for her aim of reducing the indices of maternal mortality in Kano State which yield the global response of Sustainable Development Goals.

He also commended His Excellency Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for recruiting 120 Midwives across the state and presenting a midwifery kits for the quick response to child birth in their posted health facilities across the state.
He later presented a documents to Her Excellency, produced by the campaign team of The Challenge Initiative which give the backup of Islamic perspective on Child Birth Spacing.
While accepting the global recognition Prof Hafsat Ganduje appreciates The Challenge Initiative and vowed to continue with her commitments through engaging health workers in reducing the maternal mortality rate in the state.
She further Congratulates the newly 120 recruited Midwives who received their offers of appointment during the occasion and encouraged them to be honest, committed and hardworking personnell wherever they found themselves.
She reiterated that no matter how government helps, if the midwives refused to cooperate and work with honest the maternal mortality indices can never be reduced.
“Government has done its part, do your own part for the sake of Allah, He will reward you here and hereafter” Prof Hafsat encouraged the newly recruited Midwives.
