TCI Decorates Emir of Kano as Champion in Reducing Maternal Death
AREWA AGENDA – An International Organization, The Challenge Initiative has decorated the Emir of Kano Alhaji Dr. Aminu Ado Bayero as a Champion for reduction of maternal death through child birth spacing on Thursday at Tahir Guest Palace.
The decoration happened during the End of Project Dissemination of the organization in the state by its global leadership.
While decorating the Emir, The Challenge Initiative Director, Dr. Victor Igharo described Emir Bayero as exemplanary leader who supported their program and confirmed that maternal death has reduced in Kano for the support given to Child Birth Spacing campaign during their stay in the state.
Igharo said The Challenge Initiative identified the Emir as one of the Champion and a father whom his contributions to the awareness on health issues cannot be overemphasized, hence the decoration of his Royal Highness.
While responding, Alh Aminu Ado Bayero, Emir of Kano thanked Allah SWT for giving him the opportunity to attend the end of project dissemination gathering, and assured of the emirate’s commitment to the healthcare issues of women in the state and confirmed the support of other Emirates in his capacity as the Chairman council of Emirs.

He appreciated the government’s effort on support given to the project of The Challenge Initiative and called for the entire traditional rulers in Kano to continue from the good deeds of TCI as the organization set the roadmap to reduction of maternal death through child birth spacing in the state.
The event was attended by the Commissioner of Health ably represented by Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Health Hajia Amina Aliyu Musa whereby she appreciated the organization and vowed to continue from what The Challenge Initiative called business unusual.
Ugogo Chairman Engr. Ramat was also awarded due to his supportive mission of promoting child birth spacing and his commitment towards The Challenge initiative Project in the state.
The State Coordinator of the organization, Dr Musa Abdullahi Sufi appreciated the core sponsors of the project, those that stood by his side and made the actualisation of the project within a specific period of time.
Sufi also expressed excitement on the decoration of the Emir of Kano, Alh. Aminu Ado Bayero and confirmed his fatherly advice throughout the lifetime of the project in the state.
Certificates of appreciations were distributed to various individuals and organisations who played a vital role to the actualisation of the project that lasted for five years.
