50, 000 Signatories Sign Kano APC Members’ Petition To Tinubu, Ganduje Over Ministerial Nominee, Yusuf Ata
In a significant show of discontent, 50,000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano have petitioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio regarding the nomination of Yusuf Abdullahi Ata for a ministerial position.
The petition, which highlights concerns over Ata’s qualifications, was announced by group leader Barrister Abubakar, who stated that the signed document will be submitted to the President and the Senate on Monday.

Abubakar emphasized the group’s intentions to present their grievances at both the National Assembly and the APC secretariat, asserting that Ata’s track record raises serious questions about his ability to represent Kano effectively.
He cited Ata’s past anti-party activities during the 2023 election and pointed to his impeachment as Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly due to incompetence.
“He failed to deliver his polling unit to the APC during the presidential election, and his relations with party stakeholders and constituents have been strained,” Abubakar said.
He further noted that there was an attempted recall of Ata, which was halted only through the intervention of former Governor Ganduje and influential party figure Alhaji Aminu Dantata.
Abubakar urged the President to consider replacing Ata with a candidate who has demonstrated commitment and political influence within the party, such as Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, Bashir Garba Lado, or the current State Party Chairman Abdullahi Abbas.
“Ata is not fit to represent our party and the good people of Kano State,” he concluded.
