Sickle Cell Community awards Hospitals, CSO’s, Foundation in End of Year Kiddies Treat.
AREWA AGENDA – Sickle Community of Nigeria, Kano State Chapter awarded Kano State Hospital Management Board, Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo Foundation and Community Health and Research Initiative during a one day Kiddies Treat organized by the Community at Kano State Zoological Garden yesterday.
The event was organised by the community in order for them to interact with little kids living with the sickle cell disorder and encourage them in their daily live activities as they are facing maltreatment in the society,
Also the community create an avenue for a parental advice to the sickle cell disorder and create more awareness to the parents on how to treat the sickle cell patients without been secluded in a society.
Hauwa Umar, a Matron at Hasiya Bayero Hospital called for the kids to be zealous in their day to day activities despite the crisis of sickle cell they are facing. She described the community as one of which she is well cumbersome with and proper all necessary support from her part of operation. She later call for the parents to stop deceiving themselves on taking traditional precautions claiming the entire cure of sickle cell disorder.
While speaking at the event, the Board Member of the Community commended the leadership of the community, Community Health Research and Initiative (CHR) and Kano State Government who worked tirelessly to see the actualisation of Free Medical Treatment of Sickle Cell disorder patients in Kano state.

He encouraged the community to be committed, ambitious and confident about what they want to achieve despite the challenges they are facing as a result of their crisis periodically.
Dr. Sufi later launched the Free Medical Treatment License to the Sickle Cell patients with which they can go to their assigned hospitals in Kano State whenever they are in crisis for free medical treatment solemnly sponsored by under the Sickle Cell Community Trust fund Initiative by Community Health and Research Initiative with the intervention of Kano State Health Trustfund.
Asma’u Ahmad Rufa’i, one among the founders of the community around 2012 in Kano State urged her fellow sickle cell patients to be self esteem, committed in their studies and dedicate themselves to seeking of knowledge as the key to succeed in life. “With education you can do whatever you wish to do in your life, been SS is not the end of life, it’s in indeed a God’s gift that chooses you among many to be Special Someone (SS), don’t be isolated or stop engaging with your mate because of your crisis, you can do better than many. Asma’u reiterated.”
Among those who received award at the event are Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo Foundation, Sir Muhammadu Sanusi Hospital, Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Hasiya Bayero Pediatric Hospital, Khalifa Sheikh Isyaka Rabi’u Hospital among others under Kano State Hospital Management Board and the state Ministry of Health. Also Community Health Research Center received an appreciation of their immense contributions to the community.
