Abductions, Setback for Girl Child Education in Nigeria – Activist

An Activist and Former Chairperson, High Level Women Advocates(HILWA) Barr. Suwaiba Barau has described the recent abduction of Government Girls Secondary School Jangebe in Talata Mafara, Zamfara State as a setback for Girl Child Education in the state and Nigeria as a whole.

Barrister Suwaiba who described the incidence as devastating, disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen in Gusau.

She said the unfortunate incident occurred at a time when they were working day and Night to ensure no Girl is left out of school for a better society.

According to her, it is worth mentioning that these acts of attacking and abducting students at mostly rural communities where most girls are out of school could lead to unbecoming set back to the effort of educating the girl.

Barrister Suwaiba Barau, suggested that, there is the need for more effective collaboration between all the stakeholders and proper synergy amongst security agencies and communities across board to work together with a view to securing all schools and addressing criminal activities in Nigeria.
