SALCASUN Trains Women on Health Education, Financial Literacy in Kano

AREWA AGENDA – Save A life Cancer Awareness And Support Network (SALCASUN) supported by Trust Africa on Monday organized a one-day training for women in Kano state.

The training was aimed at creating more Awareness of COVID-19, and breast and cervical cancer as well as health Education and financial literacy In the state.

According to the founder of the organization, Hajiya Hauwa kakudi the linkage between health Education and financial literacy In our daily lives is very important, adding that those are part of what makes us fit all success and challenges in our society.

Kakudi also decried the low level of awareness, health education and financial literacy amongst women especially those in the rural settlements of the state, lamenting that even though most of them are into entrepreneurship.

She cautioned that women could become vulnerable to encountering the challenges of aa rest of the recent COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in the state.

Kakudi then revealed that the women are selected from 5 Local Government areas, 4 from the rural local government areas such as Rogo, Bichi, Sumaila, Wudil while Dala at kano Municipal.

“In addition, the level of Awareness of breast and cervical cancer in our society is low, especially in the rural Communities, part of SALCASUN activities is to go down to the rural and vulnerable of the vulnerable Communities to sensitize, create Awareness and conduct free Cancer screening to women because cancer is not a death sentence diseases.

“As for cervical cancer, it has a vaccine that will be done to any woman before or after having sexual intercourse”, she said.

Speaking at the occasion, consultant of Dr Tijjani Magashi noted that the COVID-19 pandemic has exposed the poor health and financial sectors, noting that the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the world economy, including Nigeria.

Dr. Magashi said COVID-19 affected mostly sick people, revealing that breast and cervical cancer are not exceptional in the case.

“Vaccine help in boosting the immune system in the body, and it is advisably for people suffering from cancer diseases to accept the vaccine as a way of improving their health”, he said.
