Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo’s Historic Visit to Uganda: A Momentous Groundbreaking Event and Strengthening Diplomacy

In an innovative significant diplomatic stride, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, the esteemed President of MAAUN Group of Universities, recently undertook a historic visit to Uganda.
The visit not only strengthened international ties but also marked a momentous occasion with the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology and Students’ Hostel at the Islamic University In Uganda (IUIU) main campus in Mbale.
The distinguished event, held on December 8, 2023, saw the Vice President of the Republic of Uganda, Major (Rtd) Jessica Alupo, preside as the Chief Guest. Prof. Gwarzo, along with two other prominent Nigerians, namely the former Chief of Army Staff, Retired Lieutenant-General Tukur Burutai, and the Vice Chancellor of Al’Istiqama University, Sumaila, Kano State, Prof. Salisu Shehu, had the honor of participating in the groundbreaking ceremony during the 32nd Graduation Ceremony at IUIU.
The groundbreaking ceremony symbolized a commitment to advancing education, innovation, research and technology, showcasing the collaboration between MAAUN and IUIU.

Prof. Gwarzo’s presence underscored the commitment to fostering educational partnerships and global collaborations for the mutual benefit of both nations.
During their visit, the MAAUN delegation, accompanied by Prof. Gwarzo, had the privilege of visiting the university’s main Mosque at the Mbale Main Campus, where they partook in the Friday Prayer.
The delegation was further honored with a sumptuous dinner hosted by the university management, recognizing the significance of their international presence at the graduation ceremony.
As part of the diplomatic exchange, the MAAUN delegation joined and explored some of Uganda’s iconic landmarks, including the breathtaking Sipi Falls and the legendary Source of the Nile.
These cultural excursions provided an opportunity for cultural exchange and a deeper understanding of the rich heritage of Uganda.
