LG Polls: Group Lauds KANSIEC Over Preparedness
The Nigeria Democracy Working Group has praised Prof. Sani Lawan Malumfashi, Chairman of the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC), for his commitment to conducting credible local government elections in the state.
The Nigeria Democracy Working Group, a coalition of civil society organizations, academics, democracy advocates, and other stakeholders from across the country, supports democratic practices and good governance. The group has noted the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission’s dedication to organizing inclusive and transparent local government elections under Prof. Malumfashi’s leadership.

The Commission’s decision to comply with a court order reducing nomination form fees reflects its respect for the rule of law. Additionally, Prof. Malumfashi’s efforts to engage opposition parties and establish best practices for democratic inclusivity have been recognized as commendable.
“As advocates for democratic best practices, we are encouraged by the Commission’s commitment to involving all relevant parties and stakeholders in the election process,” said Dr. Vincent Okpara Innocent, Convener, and Dr. Idris Aliyu Mohammed, Co-Convener.
“We hope that Prof. Malumfashi will continue to uphold transparency, inclusivity, and accountability to ensure a fair and credible election in Kano, which could set a positive example for other states.
