LG Polls: Court Restrains KANSIEC From Imposing N10m, N5m Fees On Contestants
A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has restrained the Kano State Independence Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) from charging or imposing N10m and N5m from contestants into the offices of Chairman/Vice Chairman and Councillorship in the forthcoming local government election.
The presiding judge, Justice Emeka Nwite granted the order on Wednesday.

There are reports that the suit was instituted by the Action Peoples Party (APP), Action Democratic Party (ADP) and Social Democratic Party (SDP).
The only defendant in the matter is the Kano State Independence Electoral Commission.
Recall that Kano State Independent Electoral Commission had imposed N10m for Chairmanship contestants while Councillors are expected to pay N5m in the council polls rescheduled for October 26, 2024.
The commission had earlier scheduled the polls for November 30.
