The Jigawa State Police Command says its operatives have successfully foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued the victim unhurt.
This is contained in a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, a copy of which was made available to newsmen in Dutse on Monday.
“On September 17, 2023 at about 20:40hrs, information from a reliable source revealed that, on the same date at about 1940hrs, hoodlums armed with dangerous weapons, invaded Kwanar Garki, Babura Local Government Area, kidnapped one Isyaku Umar, 37, of Kofar Arewa Babura LGA and shot one Ahmad Abdullahi, 30, of Babbar Ruga village in his armpit,” the statement said.
He said upon receipt of the report, a team of policemen led by DPO Babura Divisional Police Headquarters rushed to the scene of the crime and rescued the kidnapped victim unhurt.
He explained that both the kidnapped victim and the injured were rushed to the Babura General Hospital for treatment.
According to the statement, the kidnapped victim who was treated and discharged, had since since been reunited with his family.

Meanwhile, Abdullahi who was shot by the kidnappers, has been transferred to Rashid Shekoni Teaching Hospital, Dutse for proper treatment.
He explained that it was a sequel to the distress call received from the Babura Division that suspected kidnappers were heading towards Ringim Area.
“The Divisional Police Officer Ringim, alongside a team of Policemen and the Vigilante Group, mounted a stop and search at Daushe village along Ringim Kanya Babba highway.”
DSP Shiisu further explained that on sighting the Police, the hoodlums abandoned their Vectra motor vehicle and fled to unknown destinations.
“While searching the said Vectra with reg. no. NEN 20 NZ ANAMBRA STATE, one (1) AK 47 rifle, one magazine, fifteen live ammunition and an Android handset were recovered.
“Efforts to arrest the fleeing criminals are on top gear,” he maintained
The Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Police Command, CP Effoong Emmanuel Ekot applauded the efforts of Policemen for a job well done and directed them to stand firmly to ensure that the fleeing culprits were arrested and brought to book.
