Kano state Police Command has arrested three hoodlums with 318 mobile phones in the state.
In a statement by the command’s spokesman, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa on Sunday, the suspects were nabbed following a complain lodged by some mobile phone sellers at Alkhairat GSM market in the Kano metropolis.
According Kiyawa, one Muhammad Adam, alongside nine other traders at the market, on September 29, reported to the Police that in the midnight of same day, hoodlums invaded the GSM market, broke their shops and cated away 671 mobile phones.
As a result of the development, according to SP Kiyawa, a team of detectives, led by Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Kofar Wambai Division Kano, CSP Bala Mohammed through a concerted effort, arrested one Yusuf Surajo, 19 years old of Yakasai Quarters Kano.
The command’s image maker stated that the arrest of Surajo was what led to the capture of the principal suspect, Mustafa Auwal of the same address.
The principal suspect, Kiyawa said, had since admitted to having conspired with Surajo, stole the mobile phones, sold some and left behind the remaining ones with one Sani Garba, also of the same address.

He added that the said Garba was subsequently arrested and a total of 318 mobile phones were recovered from the three suspects.
“All the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of police investigation,” he said.
