Pantami bags ‘Digital Icon of the Year’ award

The Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami has been conferred with an Award of Excellence as “Digital Icon of the Year”, by Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria Postgraduate Representative Council, ABUPRC.

The accolade, according to ABUPRC, is in recognition of the minister’s “immense contribution in enlightening and empowering of Nigerian students through quality mentorship coupled with transparent and accountable leadership”.

It could also be recalled that in February the minister had bagged another merit award from the Center for Human Resource Development and Empowerment Initiative, CHRDEI, Kaduna, in collaboration with the National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN’s Center for Human Resource Development.

The accolade, according to the CHRDEI’s Executive Director, Dr Muhammad Ali, was in recognition of Mr Pantami’s devotion to the promotion of peace, security and stability in the country.

Recall that on July 3, Mr Pantami had bagged a best performing minister of the year award.

Conferring the award on the minister, a vernacular newspaper, Rariya, said the accolade was due to Mr Pantami’s excellent performance and numerous achievements recorded within a short time in office.

According to the publication, such achievements include the development and implementation of the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy for a Digital Nigeria and the National Broadband Plan 2020 – 2025 among others.
