NUJ, Begins Tracking Of Constituency Projects in Yobe

 

Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Yobe Council has on Wednesday begun tracking of constituency projects across the state.

The media team led by Comrade Rajab Mohammed, Chairman NUJ Yobe Council travelled to Yobe South senatorial district which comprises of four local government areas of Fune, Fika, Potiskum and Nangere.

The team inspected all the activities and projects facilitated by Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai representing Yobe South senatorial district.

The monitored projects are the digital Centres / Supply of ICT tools and services to:
College of Administration and Management Technology Potiskum (CAMTECH), Potiskum LGA,
Government Science and Technical College Damagum, Fune LGA
Government Secondary School Mamudo, Potiskum LGA
Government Secondary School Fika, Fika LGA
Government Secondary School Jajere, Fune LGA
Government Day Secondary School Dazigau, Nangere LGA
Support to students of tertiary institutions studying within and outside the country.

While the health projects tracked by the NUJ team are that of the Construction of Maternal and Child Health Care Centre KukarGadu, Fika LGA,
Construction of Maternal and Child Health Care Centre Dawasa, Nangere LGA,
Rehabilitation of PHC Nahuta,
Donation of Hand Sanitizers and Antiseptic soaps to curb the effects of Covid-19
Donation of Medical supplies to Potiskum Correctional Centre.

Others are, construction of Tandari road
Construction of Misau road,
Reconstruction of Gadan Talakawa road,
Construction of ‘Yan Kuka road,
Construction of Jujin Osi road,
Construction of Arikime road alias Bomai road,
Rehabilitation of Fika Emir’s palace road,
Grading of Mamman Ali cemetery Road,
Construction of Sanitation Facility at Government Girls Secondary School Gadaka,
Construction of Sanitation facility at Ngalda.

Acquisition of Yobe South Constituency office, electrification / Connection of Darin Langawa to National Grid, Nangere LGA
Installation of street solar light systems in Potiskum.

Installation of Solar Street lighting systems in Nangere, Fune, Fika, and Potiskum LGA,
Installation of Solar Street lighting systems at Mil biyar, Fune LGA,
Supply of electric transformers to Jigawa, Nahuta, Filin Government day, Ngelzerma, Nangere LGA General hospital, Janga Dole, Nahuta anguwan Kaji-Potiskum
Paid for the resuscitation of an overloaded and obsolete Transformer at Nahuta,
Resuscitation of mobile networks.

On youth development, the team also checked the empowerment of 44 youths drawn across the senatorial district placed on monthly payroll,
Sponsorship of 900 women from Fika, Fune, Nangere and Potiskum who have accessed N9 million credit facilities under Micro Enhancement Scheme (MEES).

30 Constituents accessed 3 million AGMESIS Loan each
Distribution of 38 Tricycles to ward Chairmen and some selected youths
Distribution of 70 vehicles to constituents drawn from the 4 LGAs
Support of Groundnut oil and beans to Akara friers to selected beneficiaries drawn from the 4 LGAs
384 constituents were empowered with N30,000 cash grants under survival fund artisan and transport scheme drawn from the 4 LGAs
Npower: 601 youths drawn from 44 wards of Yobe South nominated and be paid monthly stipend of N10,000-N30,000 for 1 year.
Covid-19 Rapid response intervention: 1800 constituents drawn from the 44 wards of Yobe South were nominated by Senator Bomai and are benefiting with N5,000 each, the programme is for six months.

Grant Cash Transfer for rural women: 200 Women drawn from the 4 LGAs were nominated and supported with N20,000
NCC Digital Literacy Training for youths: 10 youths drawn from Bomai Press Corps who cutting across the 4 LGAs were trained and empowered with Digital tools
NCC Digital Entrepreneurship Capacity Building for Industry stakeholders: 5 youths drawn from Bomai Press Corps cutting across the 4 LGAs were trained and empowered with digital tools
Covid-19 loan: 20 selected constituents have accessed 1 million Naira each Covid-19 loan
Special Public Works Programme: Sen. Bomai facilitated the engagement of 120 youths into SPW programme and have benefitted with N20,000 each for 3 months, thus 30 youths per LGA
NSIP Monitors: 10 youths were nominated as independent monitors and are paid with N30,000 monthly stipend
FERMA Road Map Monitors: 40 constituents from the 4 LGAs were nominated
NDE Graduate Attachment Programme: 20 youths drawn from the 4 LGAs were attached in various agencies for 3 months attachment and are paid with N20,000 monthly stipend.

Others are sanitation and Hygiene ambassadors: 80 youths drawn from the 4 LGAs are engaged under Federal Ministry of Water Resources as hygiene ambassadors and will be paid with N20,000 monthly stipend.

Rehabilitation of solar power borehole at Bingitenat, jajere ward, Fune LGA
Construction of new solar powered borehole at Yarima Njedi Shanga, Fune LGA.

Speaking after the constituency projects tracking, Rajab Mohammed Chairman NUJ Yobe Council commended the lawmaker for facilitating the projects and assured to continue the monitoring of all pledges and implementations of elected to enhance transparency and accountability for good governance and benefit of the state citizens.
