NITDA Initiates’ Digital States Programme,’ Begins Registeration for Gombe, Kano, Lagos, Rivers
The National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA, have commenced registration for the Digital States’ Programme that would ensure the consolidation of the digital economy, an official of the Agency said.
The NITDA’s Head of Corporate Affairs and External Relations, Hadiza Umar, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.
According to her, Gombe, Kano, Lagos and Rivers States are the beneficiaries for the first phase of the programme, while subsequent phases would be announced in due course.
Mrs Umar added that the programme was designed in line with the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy, NDEPS, and in particular, Digital Literacy and Skills development, one of its eight pillars.

“The Digital States Programme, designed as one of the implementation strategies of the NDEPS, is aimed at equipping Nigerian youths with the necessary digital literacy skills that can facilitate Nigeria’s transition to digital economy.
“The programme is aimed at training about 540 youths from each state of the federation and the FCT. It is expected that about 20,000 Nigerians will benefit from the programme,” she said.
Mrs Umar further said that the programme would focus on IT Management of Productivity Tools; Understanding Digital Marketing and Basics of Content Creation; and Entrepreneurial Skills, including Basics of Career Development.
“Registration for the first phase of the programme commenced on Monday, March 8, and would last until March 19, while further information and registration guidelines can be found on the NITDA Academy website: https://academy.nitda.gov.ng/public/digital-skills,” she said.
Mrs Umar said that citizens within the age of 16 and 40 where eligible to apply for the programme.
